The principal purpose of the Friends of the Library is to raise added funds for the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library so that:
Proceeds from our Spring and Fall Book Sales benefit the Library’s programs and special projects. Most of the books are donated by members of our communities.
Be sure to join the Friends for one of the area’s most popular spring events, the Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale! From a $714 weekend sale forty-six years ago to two $100,000 sales a year, the book sales provide a well-used mechanism for the community to recycle books to each other while supporting the public library. Many thanks to everyone who has helped make this a successful venture. This includes not only the corps of volunteers who help throughout the year and the larger pool who help at the sale. Gratitude is also extended to the many people who donate such fabulous material in such great quantities and to all of our customers whose purchases help support the programs and projects of the library system.

In the 2011 Fall Sale nearly $99,000 was raised to help support the library. For the first time, credit and debit cards were accepted. Over $32,000 was processed using an I-Pad, wi-fi, and an application called “Square”. Although the cost of the service subtracted from the total, the popularity of the option and the ease of accounting makes it likely that cards will continue to be accepted in future sales. Many THANKS to everyone who contributed materials, volunteered their time and energy, and bought books and recordings at the sale.
