How the Funds are Used
- funding of summer reading programs for children and young adults, including rewards and small “achievement” prizes
- funding throughout the year of special projects and programs
- funding for each library’s individual needs and support of local book review programs
- funding for library promotional materials (bookmarks, book bags, etc.)
- funding of “free” parking for patrons of the Central Library who use City parking spaces
- providing the “free” monthly book review/newsletter: “Book Page”
- funding of a videotape history of the local regional library
- provides major grants when new branches are planned (Nelson, Louisa and Greene County branches in the recent past, a new Crozet branch in the future)..
- annual financial support for the Virginia Festival of the Book
- annual contribution to the Friends of the Library Endowment Fund, to provide for the library’s future needs
